The Word of God transcends political affiliations

I want to cover two areas.  When Adam and Eve lost Eden for us, it was because they disregarded the Word of God. Eve listens to Satan, who as usual twists God’s Words to get us to consider his point of view, and if possible to do his bidding.  For this, they were cast from the garden of Eden into the a “wilderness of sin”.  That’s where we live now.

When Christ began His earthly ministry, the first thing He did (Matthew 4:1-11) was depart into the wilderness.  He went for a specific task – to be tempted by the devil.

He fasted and prayed for 40 days, and then Satan appears with his arguments.  And the one weapon that Christ uses is the Word of God, even though Satan tries to twist it.  When we first began these classes we discussed how the best way to know what’s false is to be intimately acquainted with what’s true.

Interesting isn’t it that what man lost in the garden Christ wins back in the wilderness.  But that’s not all.

The final victory takes place in a garden in the Mount of Olives.  That’s where Christ faced the final battle in winning our salvation.  In Matthew 26:39.  He says, “Your will be done,  not mine.”  He won where man failed.  The strain was so great that He prayed three times.  Luke 22:44,says he sweated blood.  And in times of great stress this has happened.  The capillaries near the surface of the skin, burst sending drops of blood through the pores of the skin.  That’s how great the strain was.

But in that garden He won the final battle.  He went to the cross and became sin for us.  That’s what He wrestled with that night.  The awfulness of becoming sin, and having the Father turn his back in that terrible moment.  We simply can’t identify with the horribleness of that prospect.

That victory is what I write from when I do my letters and articles and editorials.  Col.4:5-6. Our words are to be seasoned with grace. I Peter 3:15 says be ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you about the hope that lies within you, yet with gentleness and reverence.

Christ suffered to win for us the privilege of using the Word of God to reach our world.

The Word of God transcends political affiliations, and philosophical views, and psychological rhetoric.  It is God himself flowing from our pens, (or computers) when we rightly divide Scripture.
